About Tom L. Ballinger
Tom L. Ballinger was born in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1954. He played professional baseball for several years before being drafted into the US Army. After his hitch in the army, he entered a career in business.
He was a Zone Manager for the Dr Pepper Company. Then, he was Vice President and General Manager of a soft drink bottling company in Mobile, Alabama. Later, he became a Sales Manager for a large bottling company in Roanoke, Virginia.
In 1966, he joined Murry Evans, in Mobile, Alabama, who was the Burger King franchisee there. He and Murry worked together for sixteen years. They started the Berean Chapel in Mobile and held annual Bible Conferences; The Gulf Coast Bible Conference. Later, Tom and his family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he continued in the restaurant business.
Over the years, Ballinger developed a Christian ministry while managing a business full time. He started writing a Bible Study Newsletter in 1968; Plainer Words. He published it for twenty-one years, and he had a fifteen minute daily radio program, The Present Truth Broadcast, for ten years in some of the major radio markets. He is the author of a number of Bible study books and booklets. He married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Bracke. They have two grown sons and two grandchildren. He and Gloria live in a rural wooded area south of Dallas, Texas. In 2003, Tom began to write Plainer Words Online and send it out electronically via e-mail and is still doing so.
